MHS Supports The Villages’ Mission

In 2021, The Villages team created a Corporate Partnership Program and designed it to build relationships with businesses of all sizes to engage owners and their employees. By working alongside like-minded partners, The Villages and its corporate partners are broadening reach and resources as they work together to champion children and families across the state.

Corporate partner MHS is an example of what the program is designed to do. MHS sees the value in enriching the lives of children and understands the importance of securing a bright and positive future for all.

In 2019, the MHS team sponsored The Villages Diaper Day, which brings awareness to the diaper gap and gathers diaper donations for Villages families. Three years later, the MHS team has become a Heroes for Children corporate partner continuing to support Diaper Day as well as Prevent Child Abuse Indiana programming, foster parent trainings, and holiday assistance. This year, MHS has made a commitment to match $3,000 of donations on Diaper Day on Aug. 24. That’s over 10,600 diapers for Hoosier families in need.

“We appreciate the MHS team. This corporate partnership is just that a partnership. The team gives back with time through volunteer opportunities and event participation, supporting our staff and the children and families we serve,” says Shannon Schumacher, The Villages President and CEO. Prior to the pandemic, the MHS team also supported foster parent training sessions across the state.

MHS is a managed care entity that has served the state of Indiana for 25 years through the Hoosier Healthwise and Hoosier Care Connect Medicaid programs along with the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) Medicaid alternative program. MHS, with some 600 employees, is one of several providers that insure foster youth across the state.

“MHS is proud to partner with The Villages and supports their mission of championing every child’s right to a safe, permanent, and nurturing home,” said Kevin O’Toole, MHS President and CEO. “Creating healthy outcomes through community partnerships is a priority for MHS. We are honored to be a Heroes for Children corporate partner and be a matching sponsor of Diaper Day. Every parent deserves access to basic essentials like diapers, and we’re glad to do our part to help.”
