Young Community Leaders are Champs FORE Children
Champs FORE Children is a new, innovative program for young community leaders who are interested in making a difference the lives of The Villages’ children and families. Champs FORE Children is part of The Villages’ largest fundraising event, the Golf Classic, and is an easy way for young community leaders to raise critical funds to support abused and neglected children in Indiana.
The premise of this program is simple…it is a fundraising competition – who ever raises the most money by September 17 (The Villages’ Golf Classic) will be awarded the Champion. At the event, the winner will be revealed and crowned the Champion. Please help The Villages support these amazing community leaders in their campaigns!

Dear friends, family and acquaintances,
I would like to bring to your attention a very important organization that means a great deal to me: The Villages of Indiana. I was first touched by this organization as an intern with The Villages. Through this experience, my eyes opened to the important mission that they serve, serving Indiana’s foster children. I was especially touched by their service for transitional living kids. These are 18 to 20 year old youth that have aged-out of the foster care system, without being adopted.
The Villages assist these youth with their transition to independence until they reach the age of 21. They help them find housing, enroll in college or obtain their GED. They assist them with finding employment, how to budget their expenses and even how to grocery shop and cook; the things most of us were taught by our parents.
Because I was an intern with The Villages, I saw first hand how they went above and beyond to help these youth. One of the things I found most impressive is that 92 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the needs of The Village kids. That is huge! They are one of the few nonprofits that contribute this high of a percentage.
Why is this so important you may wonder? Statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau show that about 66% of the incarcerated population were foster youth at some point in their lives. Also, thirty percent of homeless adults in the U.S. are previous foster children, and they are nearly two times more likely to have their own children taken from them and placed in foster homes.
We are all affected by these tough economic times, but these children are hit the hardest. So I am asking you all to help by donating to this cause that means so much to me and The Villages’ kids.
Thank you in advance for your time and generosity,
Catherine Pellegrino
